Director Joe Cornish wanted for Star Trek 3

Joe Cornish, director of Attack the Block, is top of Paramount’s list to direct the third Star Trek film. Deadline reports that Paramount are pushing for the director again to take over the reins from J J Abrams.

Abrams will of course be busy with another certain sci-fi movie, but is still set to remain as a producer for the third installment.

As of yet there haven’t been any formal offers and it is still early days, but Cornish could be an interesting choice for the movie.

The third Star Trek film is apparently due to start filming in 2014 – but no concrete details have surfaced yet.

Reboot of Terminator due June 2015

The press release for the reboot of Terminator has confirmed that Paramount, Skydance Productions and Annapurna Pictures have set a June 26th 2015 release date.

The film is intended to be the first past of a possible trilogy and will have Arnold Schwarznegger on board in some capacity, although the press release hasn’t stated what role he will playing.

Writers who have worked on Avatar and Drive Angry have been working on the script, and the studios are currently looking for a director.

With the North American rights of the franchise due to revert back to James Cameron in a few years, the companies are hopeful to get two movies out sooner rather than later.
