Director Joe Cornish wanted for Star Trek 3

Joe Cornish, director of Attack the Block, is top of Paramount’s list to direct the third Star Trek film. Deadline reports that Paramount are pushing for the director again to take over the reins from J J Abrams.

Abrams will of course be busy with another certain sci-fi movie, but is still set to remain as a producer for the third installment.

As of yet there haven’t been any formal offers and it is still early days, but Cornish could be an interesting choice for the movie.

The third Star Trek film is apparently due to start filming in 2014 – but no concrete details have surfaced yet.

World War Z to get sequel

The Brad Pitt zombie film ‘World War Z’ is due to get a sequel, following a $111.8million world wide box office in its opening weekend.

Paramount confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that they will be actively developing a sequel, following the film’s success so far as it earned $66million in the US alone.

Initially envisioned as a trilogy, the film has had a strong start so far, both commercially and critically, and that appears to be enough for the execs at Paramount to greenlight a second film, despite the $190million budget spent on the movie.
