Another new Game of Thrones trailer aired

Fresh from giving fans a 15 minute long preview, HBO has released yet another trailer for the fourth season of Game of Thrones. The fourth season will be airing in the UK on April 7 on Sky Atlantic.

The fourth season is based off the second part of A Storm of Swords, book three from George RR Martin’s A Song of Fire and Ice series. With the ‘Purple Wedding’ promising to cause quite a few shocks for those yet to read the books and a whole lot of trouble for key characters, HBO have promised us that season four will have a lot more happening than the previous season.

The trailer promises us that vengeance is a key theme, as always, with Arya recounting a certain list and ending the trailer on the ominous words taught to her by a certain Faceless Man. In between we see glimpses of the Starks vowing revenge, Daenerys promising that she will rule (does this mean she gets on a boat soon?), Tyrion in peril and what looks to be a much more grown up dragon.

New characters will make their debuts, including Mace Tyrell (Roger Ashton-Griffiths), Prince Oberyn Martell AKA the Red Viper (Pedro Pascal) and his lover Ellaria Sand (Indira Varma). Mark Gatiss will also make an appearance as  Tycho Nestoris, a representative of Braavos’s Iron Bank.

UK village to change name to Game of Thrones’ Kings Landing

To mark the release of Season 3 of HBO’s Game of Thrones on DVD on February 18th, a UK village Kings Langley is going to temporarily change its name to that of Westeros’s capital Kings Landing.

According to Radio Times, one of the show’s producers heard the town’s name whilst at a London train station and decided to orchestrate the name-change publicity stunt.

Whether Kings Langley will see the violence commonly found in Kings Landing is highly unlikely, but it could be a great boost for tourism business for the village. Kings Langley is based in Hertfordshire, roughly 2 miles north of Watford, if everyone is interested in visiting and taking obligatory photos with street signs.

Season 4 of Game of Thrones is due to arrive in Spring 2014. The series is based on George R R Martin’s series of books A Song of Fire and Ice.

The Red Viper is cast for GOT

With Season 3 having just finished on our screens, and people still recovering from a certain Red Wedding, Game of Thrones is getting ready for Season 4 and has announced who will be playing Prince Oberyn, aka the Red Viper.

Pedro Pascal, who has been in The Good Wife and Graceland, will be portraying the prince in the vital role as, without getting too spoilery, the Red Viper has an important part to play in the story.

EW.com describes the character as “a brash, charming, cunning prince of Dorne (part of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros). His sister Elia was brutally murdered by the Lannister knight Gregor ‘The Mountain’ Clegane when Mad King Aerys was overthrown by Robert Baratheon and the Lannisters. In Season 4, Oberyn comes to King’s Landing with revenge on his mind.”
